Looks excellent.

If you plan to OC though, you could just get a 3000+ or 3200+ Venice, since the larger L2 cache doesn't make a huge difference.

Hmm, I built a dual core rig with a 6800GT and 4200 x2 for 1500(includes 200 dollar LCD) shipped. Guess you are paying a premium for the mouse/speaker system.

Ya, if you value sound and response time, your choices are pretty good. Me, I'm fine with my crappy keyboard/mouse and earbuds.

I found my stock HSF very loud & whiney, so i use a Zalman

I'd recommend an XP-90 or XP-120 for quieter cooler use.

some enthusiasts like the sound of running fans, it gives them the feel that it is powerful and server-like :)

I would rather get 7800GTX for $550 and $150 3000+ venice. For every day tasks, you wont notice any difference between 3700+ at 2.2ghz and 1mb cache and the 3000+ that has a potential to overclock to 2.6ghz with ease. Even if 3700+ can overclock farther, you will hardly notice a difference between 2.6 and 2.8ghz. However, the difference between 7800GTX with great HDR support and usable sm3.0 and x800xl is rather large. But it's up to you.

Also to the guy above, san diego does not help at gaming. The difference between 512kb and 1mb cache in gaming is far less than the additional 200mhz speed increase for A64. In fact, you will never notice it. --> LINK I would rather get 2 gigs of ram instead of 1 gig of ram and get even 3500+ than the 3700+.

i thought about the 7800 but as of now i play games on integrated graphics so this is gonna be a huge jump for me. i also dont want to oc very much as i have not a clue how to do it. so this is a learning experiance for me.

Floppyfor $12? Wtf :p
Also, I'd recommend downgrading to the EPOX 9NPA+Ultra. Much better board than the DFI if this is your first build,a nd if you're not overclocking. The EPox will be easier to overclock since you're a beginner.

Benq's burner is better than the NEC fyi. See anandtech's review. the NEC failed in reading back it's own disk, etc.
