Since before, and especially after, I made my thread about really wanting a motorcycle (and thanks so much for all the help you provided me on that thread, you really opened my eyes to everything motorcycles!), I have been doing a TON of reading and (more so) youtubing about all the motorcycles that are out there.

I think I should just get a Ninja ZX-14R. Yes, it is a big bike. But I am not concerned with that, I am a big (and very strong) guy.

Yes it has lots of HP. But it is NOT a crazy high strung engine like the 600 class bikes that you guys rightfully warned me away from - its got a very large and LOW STRUNG 1400 and something CC engine. I've done a ton of research on this bike, the power delivery is extremely linear. Handling good, Gas mileage good (40ish mpg easily obtainable). Very safe because the power is so linear.

And its under $16k. That is an AMAZING price for a bike of that caliber I say. I don't save much money going with a smaller bike, and if I go with a smaller bike within a few weeks or a month or two I will want a bigger one and then I'll be out the almost $16k for the -14R *AND* the amount I paid for the smaller bike.

Does this make sense to everyone hopefully?

Thanks again for all the help!!!

Link so everyone can see how cool (especially cool looking) it is:

Remeber to get a full body riding suit and full helmet. Makes cleanup much easier for emergency personnel.

How many did you test ride before deciding on that one?

BTW, don't forget to soap up the wheels for more speed!

Only if you plan on becoming an organ-donor.

That bike is a STUPID choice for a first ride.... I've been riding my entire life and have owned and daily-ridden several big, heavy and fast sport-bikes but I would still think twice!

maybe OP wants to join the calamari racing team

you either pull off cool stunts, or end up looking like calamari

Almost posted this last night but it's kind of brutal with the newscaster laughing.

i have to admit i stifled a little LOL too

it just reminded me of the physics when i'd crash in motocross madness

always better to try it in a game instead of real life

Watching that guys speed relative to stationary objects on a road with a crap-ton of side streets made my nuts retract a little bit..... freaking death-wish!

i grew up with a crazy kid a few years younger than me who would routinely do 100+ on his bike

he was a good kid otherwise, but developed a "need for speed" after years of motocrossing

when a video of him going 160 on a highway was getting sent around on our crappy 00's phones, i brought it up to his dad

but it didn't help

a couple months later the kid tried to pass someone at 130mph not realizing they were behind someone who was turning left

ZX-14R? that's it? bruh, you need to go directly to the H2R or you fail at life.

seriously though - get a ninja 250/300/650 (the 650 twin, NOT a ZX6R). the likelihood of you getting into trouble on a ZX14 is extremely high.

Buy a used bike for $2000. After you drive it around for a year or two, sell the bike for like $2000, and then upgrade.
You will probably live a lot longer and wont have as many speeding tickets.

My brother got himself an 80s era Honda Magna for under $1000. Its got a 750, which seemed a lot for a first bike, but he is still alive after a year of driving it. It will do 0-60 in like 3ish seconds.
