i think i have a virus

my friend brought his computer over to my house, becuase his computer would turn on, but wouldnt output any video signal, and the hard drive wouldnt spin. so he ordered a new mobo. i stuck his hard drive in my computer and wrote some files onto a cd for him. my computer is still working fine. he leaves, and i eat dinner. when i come back, my computer is on still, but the monitor isnt getting any video input. i turn off the computer and same thing. my comp has the same symptoms as my friend's computer. there is no video output. the hard drive light doesn't light up after the first second, the ram lights ( i have the corsair ram with the lights) only light up for the first second, and all the fans run, but nothing comes up on the monitor. EXACT same symptoms as my friend's comp... how do i fix this, or what virus is this called.

thanks,
jerome

It doesn't really sound like a virus to me if your not getting a video signal, unless it has infected your bios, which isn't too likely. You might try unpluging all of the drive cords from the motherboard and try to start the system to see if it is drive related. It sounds like a hardware problem to me, and I seen things like this happen from incorrect master/slave jumper settings before.

i have narrowed it down to a BIOS problem...i think the virus corrupted by bios, because i disconnected all the stuff from my motherboard and it still doesnt output a video signal...checked video card on another computer and it works...so it is the BIOS...is there a way to reflash the BIOS using another computer?
