Why?

If I posted about how I was weak and couldn't lift heavy things like other people and it made me sad, would you want the bannage of someone who said "start working out and get stronger?"

If I posted about how I wasn't very sociable and was sad that I didn't have more friends, would you forbid suggestions that he "get out more," and "force himself to make friends?"

If I posted about how I wasn't very knowledgeable about literature and felt bad when people around me talked about books and authors, would you cry "ban" when it was suggested that I read more?

WTF is it with you people that think money/wealth is such a taboo subject that should never, ever be discussed? Oh, you told him to take pills and die in a fire? Cool! What, you told him that if he's not happy with his ability to purchase material things, that he should earn more? OMG! You heartless bastard! BAN!!!

You have just as much influence/control over your income as you do other things - sometime moreso - such as athletic ability, knowledge, skillsets, etc.

There seems to be a larger issue here than the giving of gifts. Many of the folks on ATOT seem to view social interactions like giving gifts, eating together and, giving time to others as 'stressful' or 'uncomfortable.' This discomfort appears to be not limited to co-workers but, friends and, even family! When the hell did humans mutate in such self absorbed nutjobs?

Sometimes I feel like I need to teach a Holiday 101 class. Listen up people! This is NOT a high stress environment. Get over yourselves and allow the joy of sharing life, love and, interests with those you care about to enter your lives!

I hate Christmas because my family refuses to get along with each other. There are two days a year that we even try to get together, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Thanksgiving ended very, very badly. Let's see how Christmas goes.
