I think I got a good OC Q6000 chip...

but anyways, to the OP, 3.6 would most likely be doable at a voltage that would not harm the longevity of your chip severly. 3.4ghz however, is almost a guarantee with the g0 stepping

he's bullshitting.

your talking about this right?

"I just got my q6600 g0 batch code is 37B

So far I've done 4ghz @ 1.42v on AIR. Haven't done full stability test yet but it should b doable at below 1.45v.

It can do 3.6ghz at stock volts.

I got a Xeon 3220 also but haven't tested it yet. That one is b3 batch 17A engineering sample.

I'll get some screenies tmr cuz i'm way 2 tired right now. About 2 fall asleep in my chair."

I have a 37B chip. I even havea 17A, and a 40F, 18G, ummmm i have one more but i forget the bin off tht one. It will prime for about 15MIN @ Stockl and then fail horribly. LOL....

In Post #1668 he needed 1.353 which translates to about 1.387-1.4V in bios. So thats nowhere near stock. If you see 3.6ghz running at 1.2-1.3Vcore TOPS, thats a true 3.6ghz @ stock.

And no way in hell a 37B can do 3.6ghz on stock. The 28A gets DAYAM close at 1.3875, My ES does it at 1.375. Bios

The 28A is a better chip btw then the 37B

Jeff, that guy has a lot of fake stability tests. A true stability test requires all 4 cores loaded on prime95 for at least 6 hours. All his tests DONT EVEN last for 1 hour. Look at the time start and time finish.

Im suprised no one has flamed him yet....

EDIT: i commented on him.... i dont like it when people claim something without a valid stress test...

Both the G0 Q6600's I've had the opportunity to play with hit 3.0GHz at stock voltages using the stock heatsink/fan without overheating under Prime95 (4 cores) Small FFTs.

I'd say you'd need pretty bad luck to not hit at least 3GHz.

As for motherboards, you don't need a crazy motherboard as long as you get a P35 board. Something like the P5K-E or the P35-DS3R is excellent. (I personally use a P35-DS3P).

wish i had one of these G0 q6600's. I read that a guy bought one for $199 at frys with an ECS motherboard on thanksgiving. that seems a good deal for the cache/cores purchased :)

yeah i did... and its going into a new project.

Watercooled CM690, all kept at a budget.

Abit IP35-E
Q6600 OR X3220 OR Q6600 B3

The setup should take either of the chips to 3.6ghz with good temps. :T

I'll start the project at XMAS. The total cost for case and cooling is going to be around 300-350 <depending if i want to do GPU and Chipset>

But G0's are definitely the chips to get. Unless you can find a B3 for less then half, i wouldnt touch it with a 10foot pole over a G0.

yea i just skimmed it, i just remember thinking "wow" when i read the 3.6@stock. i stand corrected. i just never really thought that someone would want to fake benchmarks....thats a new level of pathetic. it kind of boggles my mind. what the hell is the point of that? he must be desperate to be lying to get bragging rights on a message board. once again...wow.

You have no idea. There's a minimum of one like that, at every hardware forum, including this one.

and people like me always flame them. :p

Dont get me wrong, if you have a real godly overclock, i would like to see it, and give you all the credit you deserve. But fake overclocks just for numbers without proving there stable,

Well, i think my dogs poo has better value then that. At least it fertalizes.

My wife's bad at hiding what she got for Xmas and I'm pretty sure she got me this black friday combo from frys too.

read up on the board a bit, definitely will be on the list to replace, but can't beat a quad for sub $200 range,

anyways planning on OC'ing eventually myself, want to get up to 3.0ghz

will be building with an 8800GT

with 2GB of DDR2 800 (probably OCZ dual channel kit)

probably be putting into an Antec 900 chassis.

haven't decided on a cooler yet, but I like what I've read about the Tuniq tower.

These Q's OC so easy to 3 Ghz any one can do it...most important is a good PSU and decent MB...
