I think I fried my Smartmedia Card!!

HELP! Was using digital camera. Smartmedia card was in digital camera and I plugged into USB cable. So then there were a lot of pics I didn't want so I right clicked on "removable storage" and hit format and formatted the entire card. Now camera wont load pics onto the card. I know its the card cause I put in another card and it worked fine! Help! Can I recover my card or is it gone??
