Took my 800mHz T-Bird to 850, worked fine. Took it to 900, won't start, brought it back down to 800, same problem.

The computer gives me a beep meaning it posts fine... harddrive starts up... makes usual noise, but it just doesn't show anything on screen, and the system is halted. This problem is happening even when I set it back to "jumper free" mode and when I set the dipswtiches back to 800... =( Time to buy a Duron 600 and see how far it goes :D

Can anyone confirm that my Chip indeed fried? Pretty pathetic that an 800 would FRY at 900...

If you had any decent cooling at all, I seriously doubt that you fried it. Make sure that the fan is working properly, the heatsink is in good contact with the core. Also, Clear your BIOS and see if it will boot then.

they're right, i seriously doubt it's fried. try taking everything out of your system but 1 stick of ram and a video card, make sure both are properly seated. will probably boot right up. goodluck. i'd hate to lose my t bird.

you may have to reset your computers bios, etc...
did you change the voltage? if so make sure you put it back at the default
what type of cooling are you using?

Take out your mobo battery to clear your BIOS, also take off any graphite left on ur processor from ur pencil trick, if ur L1 bridges are improperly connected u might have problems. Make sure your ram is seated tight.
