I'm strongly considering a 2006 350z, 25k miles, for $21000. I figure I put 6k down and payments on 15k shouldnt be bad at all.

What do you all think? I want a sporty card but I dont want to break the bank on a G35 coupe (same year with same mileage will run 7k more).

25000 miles in 1 year?

Is this going to be a daily driver, or just a toy? The 350Z is unusable as a real car, the G35 Coupe isn't worlds better, but it does have a back seat. By your prices, and my experiences, I think the G35 is the only way to go. It's just too damn sweet.

1. Equal in performance to the Z, more comfortable.
2. Very nicely appointed, even in base trim. It's comparable to significantly more expensive cars. The only option I added was the schweet sunroof.
3. IMO, the G35 is one of the best looking cars on the road today. The G's ultra-clean lines make the Z look like an Avalanche by comparison.

Good luck and enjoy!

If it was an early 06 MY then it is now two years old.

1. The 350Z is .3 seconds quicker in the quarter mile. This is mainly due to the extra weight of the G and the extended wheel base.

2. So is a Prius.

3. While both are homely IMHO, the Z looks like a sports car.

Have you actually driven a Z on the highway (or even worse a 2 lane country road) for more than 5 miles?

Misery is the word that comes to mind. It's a weekend toy. Not something that I would want to designate as a daily driver.

1a. Like anyone will notice .3 seconds
2a. The Prius is lacking in the luxury department.

it's an everyday car, I dont need a trunk or backseat.

As far the the comparison to the G, I agree, the G would be the nicer car to have but $7k is no joke...

05+ 6MT G35 sedan ftw :D

Compared to the coupe:
1) same VQ motor, 6MT, suspension, wheels
2) lighter curb weight
3) seats 5
4) usuable trunk space
5) cheaper

but if you find it fugly...then no go
