Do you really think that's much money? Exactly the amount to spend on a GF. When she becomes the wife, it'll be a whole different story, can't even compare to this.

I don't think it's too extreme. My friends and I spend that much individually on birthday presents.

edit: Is this just a random present? Or a special occasion?

That's not that much money.

And a watch is a good gift for a girlfriend. I got my ex a $100 watch like 4 years ago, we've been broken up for almost 3 years and she still wears the watch all the time. It's not the kind of gift that'll get shoved in a box or end up on Ebay if you break up like a ring or earrings would.
 
It's a random gift, so it is kind of alot, especially since i am trying to save money to start paying loans. 🙁

hehe my wife is allergic to gold (thank the good lord!!!!!)
But I literally have to pull her away from the jewelry sections of dept stores whenever we go to the mall
