I think I finally chose my next car...

I've been thinking a lot about two cars:

2005 350z or 2005 Audi A6 3.2.

After a lot of consideration, I've come to the conclusion that I'd rather go for the luxury over the sport. I figure in a few years, I can just buy the sports car I really want (when I'm over 25 ;)).

What do you all think about the 04 A6? I found once with ~56k miles with an asking price of 22k from Jaguar of OC. I'm pretty sure I can negotiate it down a little more. what do you all think?

How long do you plan on keeping your next car?...and I hate to bring it up, but in addition to maintenance costs, factor in gas prices and how much you drive. I know you're in LA, but seriously it doesn't seem worth owning a luxury car right now.

That aside, I like the look of the A6 and (disregarding costs) I'd also pick luxury over sport. I care more about a comfortable ride and nice sound system than having a good 0-60 time.

I plan on getting an extended warranty to 100k miles and ditching in before I put on another 45k miles (which would still give nearly ~4 years of driving).

I think civics are great cars esp. considering the price tag and gas prices, but I just don't see myself driving one.

I wouldn't keep it for more than 3 or so years. I just want something in the low 20k range until I save up some money to get a Vette'

You can get C5 Z06 for low to mid $20k. Regular C5 for mid teens to low $20k. Insurance on a Vette is super cheap.

Ditto that.

From the OP though : "After a lot of consideration, I've come to the conclusion that I'd rather go for the luxury over the sport."

Well, why the hell get a 350Z? They're a bit spartan. G35 performs nearly identically, yet delivers a decidedly classier/more lux setup. You can mod either pretty much the same. There are some nutty G35 coupes around here, 6MT turbos and all, though stuffing an intercooler in the front bumper area appears to be tricky.

Anyhow, yeah the C5 Z06 is an incredible bargain, if you're into Vettes and want performance, go for it. They can be supercharged beyond C6 Z06 performance fairly cheaply, are fast as hell already (a shade better than stock C6s), are semi-collectible, and well, they're Vettes! The interior will need TLC, but other than that, they're tough dudes.

Otherwise : G35 Coupe >>>> 350Z

I commonly sink 2x the worth of the car (brand new price) into it. You don't? :p

check Audi CPO's - many go for 22kish, and come with a 4 year warrant + whatever was left on the original warranty

In context of the OP, what warranty do you know that covers wear and tear items such as brakes?
