I think I drank too much and need to step back a bit...

I am suspecting I did some real damage to my liver (or kidney?) these few years. I am getting drunk easier and blackouts are alot more frequent and serious. I am quitting already.
but I am wondering is there anything I could do to make my liver (or kidney?) heal?
Or, it is something other than liver damage that is causing this?

I checked with WebMD.com and found nothing about curing alcoholism. (the obvious cure is not drinking of course, but is it enough or are there other ways?)

APPENDIX: no, I am NOT quitting completely, I just want my body to heal, so I can take all the beating during Xmas and New Year times. Come on, no drinks on holidays? who am I lying to?

Well, a lot of people drink a lot in college.

And a lot of people have various types of health problems that may be related later in life.

I havent see statistics on it myself, so I cant honestly say more than that.

You are asking about two different things. Do you want help quitting drinking or do you want your liver to heal?

Also, something is seriously wrong with you if you constantly blackout and you keep doing it.

While your liver has some ability to heal itself, it will never be 100% of what it used to be before you started drinking heavily.

The only thing you can do now is prevent further damage.

Somehow, I doubt that's going to happen.

Avoid tylenol.. heh.

There's always the liver transplant option..

hmm blackouts are NEVER good, only once I've blacked out and that was due to drinking while medicated (REALLY bad idea) Glad you are quitting, I think you'll be *ok* if you only drink like every few months. During fall term I was noticing I was drinking more and more so decided to stop for 8 weeks before spring break, was actually really good for me, let me get back in shape, and concentrate on school again. Good luck, just remember, it isn't ONLY one beer, set a time frame for when your next will be and stick to it.

Drinking with the goal of passing out is hell on your liver. It's also very dangerous because you can choke on your own vomit. Choking on your own vomit is an embarassing way to die.

BTW, it probby isn't that your tolerance is very low, it's that you just don't realize that the others around you aren't pounding beers. You probby just started going to parties and you notice that everyone has a beer in their hand.. The key is nursing a beer and socializing. People that drink a ton just become outcasts.

Last week I blacked out the entire evening with the exception of three or four key events. I've been doing sh*t like that every weekend for over eight years. I also had a brief affair with cocaine.

At my last physical my long-time doctor declared I was "fit as a fiddle."

.. but, but... if you do cocaine you'll turn into a murdering rapist druggie!

See a doctor to make sure it's nothing serious.

Other than that, ask yourself why it's become such a problem and what you can do to help yourself heal.
