I think my car hates me.... the rear end is all messed up, it vibrates at high speed, thumps around corners, etc.... Now I think I've got a broken axle.

Oh well, on thursday I'm getting the differential replaced and the axles inspected and replaced if necessary. Then I'm getting the torque boxes welded back together and putting in some subframe connectors week after that.

Advice: when modifying a car, dont concentrate all your energy on the motor, or you'll end up tearing the car apart....

I'm going to drop the transmission in the next couple weeks, too. Replace the clutch and possibly rebuild the tranny.

Been ripping up the unibody? ;)

What kind of diff you gettin'?

The subframe connectors will really help, I made my own for the Road Hazard (err...Runner)

And a cage to tie it all together is the finishing touch :)

On Ford's 8.8 axle there is no inner race on the wheel bearing.....the rollers ride right on the axle surface itself. At that high of mileage the axle becomes worn and pitted and becomes quite noisy under side loading....hence the noises in turns. The loosenes also can cause a vibration. It is possible that the factory Trac-Loc unit is failing too....but hard to tell. They make special bearings that move the rollers farther in to a new area on the axle that is not worn if you don't want to replace the axles.....

Either you drive awfully hard or else your car is a piece of sh!t. Get something to drive that doesn't cost you an arm and a leg.

As I recall, that's usually accompanied by leaking outer seals...due to the axle moving up and down, an indicator of that problem. Do you have that too, notfred?

Subframe connectors are a must on the Fox body Mustang; make sure you check also for cracks in the body directly underneath the drivers seat.
