BTW... nice buck

Thanks! I'm pretty proud of that one. Held a county record for a buck taken with a primitive weapon back in 92 haven't looked to see if anyone has topped it yet I imagine someone has though.

That is a nice looking buck! 😀 Glad to see another person that hunts on the forums.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck huntress! Everything I could think of has been suggested already 🙁 Did you try a PCI video card? Maybe the AGP slot is burned out? I'm really taking a st@b on that suggestion 😱

How rediculous, I had a forbidden word

I apologize in advance, the posts are getting pretty confusing. Anyway.

The nForce2 based boards sometimes have trouble recovering from an overclocked condition. NVidia provided a reset jumper in their specs, but most manufacturers did not. My MSI board has the said jumper, and that has recovered my system at least once, after it was in the same condition as yours.

I can't remember the key word to search on at this point. 🙁 The other boards may have threads about this, in the march-may timeframe. I did see references to this on ATF as well, in the o/c forum. If your board doesn't have this reset jumper, IIRC, you're SOL, and will have to junk the board.

Good luck!

Well you are obviously an experienced builder and you've eliminated the full battery of troubleshooting procedures, so, I would say the Soltek is dead 🙁 The only thing I've done that's worked on a couple that brought them back to life is to remove the battery and J5 cap then take a couple of small flat head screwdrivers and carefully pry the bios chip up until it's no longer seated, not completely removed however just raised in the socket a bit. Then let everything sit for 15mins, push the bios chip down firmly, replace the battery and jumper to the default position and hold the insert key while booting. On the first attempt all that happened was a bios beep then nothing and for the guy I had try it there was no sign of life at all. Repeating the same steps a second time left me with a fully functional board that works perfectly even highly overclocked=100% success. The other guy I had try it also had 100% success on the second attempt so if you feel like monkeying with it some more for sh*ts&giggles that is the only thing left I can think of you could try. The Jp2 jumper referred to wouldn't prevent the board from powering on so I doubt it's related. Good luck and wether you try the fix or not hopefully you'll get a working Soltek shortly because they are awesome barebones overclockers 🙂

If none of this helps. Go find a BFH and use it, that is sometimes the best answer before you pull all your hair out.

I missed this one my friend... LOL.... BFH = ???? or is that what I think it is :Q

Actually I have yet to try the holding of the INSERT key while pressing the power button, so I will attempt that (basically this procedure) and if that fails, then I will try your nifty little jogging of the bios chip.

hehe...that would have caused him to miss watching Nascar with his eyes closed yesterday 😉

Okay... Soltek WORKING!!!!! 🙂 Now I have to put it all back together 🙂

I suspect you want to know what did it? Cleared CMOS, held down the insert key, and while holding it down, press the power button... a little procedure that had been first mentioned by NesuD but was lost on me, I was so exhausted.... if you look right after NesuD's first post, I said "I can't get it to power up, much less get into the BIOS"

Amazing what a good night's sleep will do for you 😀

Tomorrow... the ASUS :Q
