Seeing as how I have some Cherokee ancestry I'm glad you lost your camera.....what with the soul stealing and all.

Cameras are very, very, very difficult to use if you never take them out of your home. Do you keep your car in your garage 100% of the time?

ZV

Why yes, yes i do...

OK, the "God" reference was made with my tongue firmly in my cheek. Sheesh. It's a fvcking joke people. Have we, as a country, really gotten so damn stupid that we don't recognise that a statement like mine is obviously not serious?

As for getting it back from the garage, I've been back there twice a week for the past month. There is a point where one needs to just cut losses. I can't prove they took it, for all I know, they missed it when they took the loaner back and the next customer took the camera.

Must be nice to be rich enough to have a car that you never drive but instead just let sit in the garage.

God wants you to check with your home insurance company. He also wants you to know that if you put a claim in, your insurance premium will go up. That is all for now.

I know how you feel ZV, two days ago I left my car accidentaly unlocked overnight. Some fvcktard punk thought it would be fun to steal my car stereo's faceplate. Nothing else in the car taken but the faceplate. My fault, the stereo was old so no big loss.
I go and buy a new stereo and a set of speaker to replace a couple of blown ones. I check the radio before leaving the parking lot of the store, since it was the same brand as the old one the wiring harnesses should be similar, they were and the radio worked, but the speaker wiring was different.
In any case I go home wire up the new speakers and the radio and turn it all on and Nothing... absolutely nothing. I know the stereo worked and have no clue as to why it isn't now. It got to dark to fvck with anymore so I took everything inside and go to sleep hoping tomorrow will be better.

So I get up this morning and start heading to work, halfway there one of the window regulators in my car breaks and the window rolls itself down, I go to Mc Donald's to get breakfast, and get served warm OJ. I get to work, find that crap hasn't been done from the day before and I am missing paperwork I need to get things done, and before I can get started doing my duties I start getting calls with problems at the remote sites. On top of all of that my flash drive doesn't want to work on the servers and some bastard has drunk my sodas.

<^>:| life.

*sigh*:(

You need to buy the Bronica ETRSi that eos is selling on the FS/T forums.

If I had two nickels to rub together I'd buy that and sell my Yashica Mat.

Sorry to hear it. You might find Contax camera repair in the back section of Shutterbug, it can be bought at most any B&N.

Please tell us that the 8080 was stolen at a Ford dealership.

Yup. Sound Ford in Renton Washington. My own fault, I'd had it with me in the loaner car (took it to work that morning because the co-workers wanted some pictures of a work event) and forgot to take it out when I dropped off the car.

I've got a couple sources for a "new" Contax though, so it'll work out. I just wanted a place to vent a little.

I left it in the loaner car. I'd been using it that day and needed it with me. I've never said it wasn't at least partially my fault for leaving it in the car.

A camera is pretty much worthless if you don't keep it with you. That means taking some risks with it. Pros will take $5,000+ cameras out in hurricanes to get the right shot. Cameras just aren't something that you can coddle. If you're worried about something happening to the camera, you'll miss the shot.

Doesn't mean that I don't have the right to vent about my own foolishness. Nor does it absolve whoever stole the camera.

And if you have to worry about what you have in your car when you take it to the shop, you're going to the wrong shop.

For the thick-headed, the "God" reference is a JOKE. Sheesh.
Oh, sure, you think you can hide your obviously pro-Satanist agenda behind Beelzebub's own subtitle.

Sulfur! I smell sulfur!! :|

^^^^ Of course, that smell could just be the highly processed gaseous remains of a Burrito Supreme exiting my "Post-Pie" hole, hmmmmmm . . .

What would Jesus do? <------- Well, nothing helpful, obviously, that liberal hippie knows SQUAT about SLR photography . . .

Which leaves you, ZM, with me. Yes, yes, I feel your pain. *sniff*

Cues the violin section of the orchestra, releases the doves . . .

Back in the day (The Late Devouring Period, specifically, when fish became obnoxous), my trusty ol' AE-1 fell my motorcycle, fortunately at a slow speed. It was then that I discovered that Philadelphia, Pa. had not one, but two HUGE, first class, camera repair institutions. Indeed, it you were to bring your camera into a local Ritz or whatnot, they'd merely quote you a premium and ship it off to one of these two for the repair.

We're talking a couple of decades ago, but I kept this info secure in my heaving breast Lo, these many years . . . for an occassion such as this! Turns out, time, as is its wont, has marched on, and things, as are their wont, have changed. All these past years, I have been living in a dream . . . a dream of past glory, now mostly faded and tattered and, yes, possibly even peed upon . . .

BUT NOT COMPLETELY GONE!! (Trumpets, heralds, perky-breasted virgins in wet, "Just Say No" tees)

One of those two firms of yore, the one I went to, was called Comet Camera. Being a self-acknowledged intarweb genius and google go-getter, I tracked them down.

Behold (and, of course, Lo), though no longer in Philly, they still exist, and, if you scroll down, they still listed Contax amongst the camera brands they worked on.

No listed 800 number, so I called them for you, and talked to Dexter. Seems they moved out of Philly last year, and are no longer the truly HUGE operation they once were, but still carry the torch. And their equally prominent competitor is long gone. Apparently, the market has moved on, and film based SLR's are no longer the rage. Who knew (besides everyone not named Peknose)?

Have a life? You may safely START READING HERE.

I mentioned the shutter jam on your Contax RTS ll, and Dexter immediately replied, "Yeah, we still work on them, bring it in for an estimate". But you can mail it to them (at your own expense, I'm sure, though the estimate itself has always been free), and, of course, feel free to contact them first:

Voice phone: (856) 857-9250
Fax : (856) 857-9245
Email: service@cometcamera.com

If you call, you'll probably get Dexter. ZM, these are highly competent, stand-up guys who can and will fix your Contax fully for the lowest price you are evern likely to find.

And please tell THIS jamoke that his English sucks almost as hard as his mother:
Did you ever thought of removing or keeping your expensive belongings to a safer place?

Edit: Oooooooo, they now have free on-line estimates! as well
