Ok, just need to vent quickly on all the hardware problems I've had for the past few weeks....please bear with me.
I've had a replace 256mb DDR chip, power supply, vid card and a HSF all in the past 3 weeks in my main system, each of which led to a couple days downtime. Add in the fact that I rebuilt the OS and this machine has been down more than Monica Lewinsky. The memory just plain took a crap, luckily it was still under warrenty w Crucial so they cross shipped. I think the power supply was actually a mis-diagnosis on my part related to the machine overheating from the faulty fan (but we'll overlook that 😉), my GF3 has decided it will work but show all kinds of fun random corrupt data. Borrowed a TNT2 from a friend and it's working but the UT2003 demo is calling my name. Add in the fact that the box hooked up to my stereo (Duron 850 or 950) decided it didn't want to boot for about a week (resolved by FM), I got fed up w dealing w all these other problems so I did the logical thing and rebuild another machine w .NET RC1 which brought that box down for a couple hours and the HD in my laptop that decided the other day it wants to only boot 1 out of 10 times and when it does boot it decides to take a coffee break after an hour or two. Oh, and the Tyan Tiger will now only boot with one stick of memory in the first slot. Doesn't matter which piece of memory I use, put it in the first slot and it runs like a champ, add another or try a single in another slot and it doesn't recognize the hard drive (???). I've been busy w two projects at work that are about to go production so I haven't had time to flush those queues until today (just dropped a 300lb bomb). There was much idle cpu time over the past couple weeks.
So long story short (too late), production has been down lately but it should be back to normal and I actually just added a couple of my sisters friends computers in the mix so it should increase the averages.
Glad I could vent on that, we now resume your regular programming. 🙂
