I think AMD needs to fix this?

When spending over 600 on a CPU does someone say hey save the 40.00 and get the slower one?

$661 - Athlon 64 X2 4400
$621 - Athlon 64 X2 4200

42.8/621=.069~ 7% price difference.

Is 4400 7% faster than 4200?

Are you sure you aren't looking at retail and oem prices? Those aren't the AMD set prices.

What does that have to with anything? The oem 4600+ is 130 dollars cheaper than the 4800+

Sorry, I thought you were trying to say the prices should be uniform to performance and they are clearly not. The extra 512K L2 cache per core may give you 2-7% (and sometimes nothing) depending on the application.

Looks like OEM to OEM = 40.00
Also RETAIL to RETAIL = 40.00

I would think they would have a little more of a gap.

What they need to fix is they need a $300 dually for us cheap skates.

But I'm getting the 4400+... It's a small price premium over the 4200 for 2x the cache.

Yeah, I would only get the 4200+ if it was running for like $450. It's also nice to give that sucker a little 200 MHz bump and call it a 4800+ 😉
