i will be willing to get a dual socket opteron board to play around with this if the FPGA chips will be anywhere as cheap as the actually chips and dev boards are now, (cyclone series).

edit: never mind it says : Stratix Series those are not as cheap lol 🙂 but still the power this gives is so cool...

anything you want. It is programmable logic. Think of an IC that can be changed from a Audio processor to Video Card or a FP crunching machine, all without replace the chip just uploading a different binary to it.

This is not like a CPU where everything is line by line. These can do that and parallel processing which where the speeds come from. It all depending on how you design your project.
