I think 9600gt is broken.

Ok here's my problem.

I've had an inno3d 9600gt armor edition for about a year now, and a couple of weeks ago, I had to send my new motherboard, a msi 770t-c45, in for an rma, and I had to switch to my old pcchips mobo. When I switched evertything to the pcchips, I turned it on, and the monitor stayed in sleep mode. It's happened to me before, so I unplugged the video card, reset it, the memory, and changed the bios to load from the pcix like I have in the past, and it still stayed in sleep mode.

The thing is, when it boots up, I can hear it loading into windows and everything. The monitor is just in sleep mode. I know it's not the monitor, because it loads right up from the onboard video.

Now I think it might be my video card, but could it also be the vga to dvi converter? I have an old crt monitor that only has vga, but my card only has dvi input.

did you plug the power cables into the video card? is the video card sitting firmly in place? (remove and reinsert it into the slot), try booting with the monitor plugged into the other port, are you sure the cable did not get detached from the monitor at the monitor's side?

Yeah I tried all of that. Like I said, I used to have this problem sometimes with this mobo, so I've had plenty of experience making it work. The plug on the monitor side isn't removable, because it's an old crt monitor.

I'd love to do that, but I don't have the money right now. I'm hoping it isn't the card, and just the adapter, or even the mobo. I'll be getting my mobo back from rma, which msi gratefully updated to a 790xt, and need my video card for it. If anyone has any suggestions, I appreciate it.

I am broke too... but 13$ + 6$ shipping isn't exactly critical... put it on a credit card.

you must have priorities, man. I remember when I was in college eating ramen noodles for 27 straight days so that I could get a new case.

that costs $20 shipped. I could sell him a rock for $10 shipped. Neither one would work but my solution is cheaper.

oops, I did not notice that it was a non working item sold for parts... sorry about that. I see its closer to 50$+ shipped for a used one.

that being said... you can buy a super cheap video that can't really run games for 20$... if you can't afford (even on a ramen diet) anything better then your financial situation is so dire that you can't afford to be wasting time playing video games anyways.
