I've just started running regularly, play basketball a lot more, and lift weights at the gym. Now i notice during normal activity or even walking at a normal pace for a short amount of time i sweat a whole lot more. Man, i feel like i'm obese or something, (btw i'm 5'7" and 138 lbs). Is this normal? I would think that i'd sweat less being more in shape...

Your metabolism may be higher round the clock now due to increased exercise. A higher body temp would mean a lower threshold for sweating to start? Just a guess.

That's what I thought too. I didn't exercise much in the past and sweated like crazy even after a short walk or stair climb. Now that I've actually started exercising a bit, I still sweat like a... an obese man? Either your body hasn't really improved yet or you just sweat a lot (like me) naturally. I know someone whom I've never realy seen sweat, even on +30 C days when everyone else is dying.

Higher metabolism = more heat production...

I've always heard that people with higher fitness levels tend to start sweating sooner in response to activity.

Hmm..I've actually noticed the reverse. When I'm continually working out (say after work 3-4 / days a week) I don't sweat as much during the day.

What I've noticed is that after working out, the "re-sweat" process starts much quicker. After excersicing, come home and take a shower, I'll sweat pretty easily again

May be residual heat. Last year I was doing hard runs at lunch and taking cold showers and found that I had to spend at least five minutes in pretty chilly water or else I'd get out of the shower and get right to work sweating through my work clothes from the heat that had not yet dissipated.
