First off, my mom works for an airline. Over the past 12 years, I have gotten to hear a lot of lame stuff about the police that patrol the airports. It is amazing how crooked some of these guys are(taking bribes and whatnot). Along with the fact my mom says that most act like Barney Fife. With that said, I believe police officers are needed and I respect any of them that deserve respect. They do a job I wouldn't want. All my experiences have pretty much been positive with police officers. One lives right behind me and is a really cool guy.

Now for my story, this morning I was dropping off a co-worker at the local airport. The speed limit for the general airport area is 25mph. I was doing that speed until I got close to the terminal and I slowed to about 18MPH. Then this cop starts running and yelling at me. I stopped and he asks if I know what the speed limit is. I said "I believe it is 25mph", his response is ,"No!, it is 15MPH". He then pointed to a sign that was 5 feet behind me. When he started yelling, I had not even reached the sign. I admit I didn't see it but that was because I was slowing down and trying to navigate traffic. Airport traffic sucks. I was preparing to stop in the first place so regardless if the cop had yelled at me, I would not have been going over 15 in the terminal area.

I told him that I was sorry about it. Eventhough I don't think I was doing anything wrong. He had no idea to tell how fast I was going because he was just walking around. He let me go because he had nothing else to bitch at me about. I turned around and saw that I had stopped right in front of a pedestrian crosswalk with a stop sign. I was maybe 3 feet from it. Since I was already stopped, I just drove over it. That is when this jackass starting yelling at me again, saying that I didn't stop. I was in shock. This jackass just must have nothing better to do than harass people. I just apologized again and drove off after letting my co-worker out. He was in shock with the whole situation.

Yeah I didn't get a ticket but I was just amazed by the behavior. I wasn't speeding in the first place(to the best of my knowledge) and I had already stopped at the crosswalk. I guess I should have moved up a foot and stopped again.

This was a guy in his 40's so I wonder what he did to get demoted to directing traffic at the airport.

I really wish, I could have afforded to tell this guy to give me the ticket and buzz off. Even if I had the money I doubt I would have said it just because I am a pansy in that regard :)

I have had speeding tickets in the past and I have gladly accepted them because I was in fact breaking the law. In this case, I just think he had a bad day so wanted to harass someone. I have gone 4 years without a ticket so I am happy to had no points on my license but in this case I would have been more than happy to fight a ticket if he had given me one.

I would have asked him where the camera was, and for what show I would be on.

What an ass. Seriously, when you're directing traffic at the airport, I would think most people would realize that they don't have to take their job that seriously.

Flame away? Ummm... okay, but I don't know why. You're clean as far as I'm concerned.

Here it goes:

I know that a lot people seem to want to flame people when it comes to police encounters :) I just figured that someone would read pieces of what I posted and start flaming without understanding what I posted. I see it happen everyday :D
