Well, there was one anti-formula movie a few years back on Lifetime. It featured an abusive WIFE. It starred Judith Light (that chick from Who's the Boss) and she was beating the hell out of her husband and then claimed that HE was beating her by faking bruises and stuff. I can't remember is she killed him or not, but I do think that she got owned in the end.
