^^ this is what I is afraid of. The malware I don't give a two shit about, its my files like Auto-desk 3ds Max and Maya, and Adobe creative cloud. I don't want to have to spend forty years downloading and installing that ish again! (Being dramatic...)

Of course I PAID for it. there is no other way to get 3ds max or maya or adobe creative cloud without paying. UNLESS, you're using or trail.
And it ain't no "virusy mess" it just has a few std's lingering around, okay, that's it.

Is there even still any "computer repair" places around? People who don't know how to fix them replace them with a tablet and people who do know how fix it themselves. It's incredible the amount of people I see now who don't even have a computer any more.

The danger of this is parts like motherboards will become very niche and expensive at some point due to lower demand for real computers.

I used to fix Commodore 64's by yelling and smashing those 5 pound joysticks into it like a boss

modern PCs are not cooperative though so my pro skills are now useless

I don't want to have to go back to windows 7 (compromised...) and "try to wish for the best" and get another free upgrade to windows 10 again, because its passed that time. I'd have to buy it this time.

What? Once you start the win 10 upgrade, then, that machine is tied to win 10, there would be no need to buy it again.

Seems like when I did the update, whatever "malware was from windows 7, "hitched" a ride in my V*****, and seeded itself into windows 10. Ewww, disgusting, right?

As other people have said, either do a 'reset' on win 10, and that should set you back to a clean slate (all files will be LOST!), or you can download the win 10 ISO, and install win 10 again.

Oh, and the portable drive is good for keeping backups.

That's my problem.

I think the actual problem is you posted in OT...so people don't know if you are serious or not.
