Update, got the vaccination on Tuesday, finally starting to develop a pox here's a PIC it's under a high tech blister window bandage so it can be observed without exposure...

Itches like hell.....

Update # 2

Was informed yesterday that I lived through the immunization :)

I had daily inspections for neary 3 weeks, the Infectious Disease nurse told me yesterday that I'm done, scab fell off & everything. I finished a week earlier than most folks:D

Had to abstain from marital relations for a while, glad that's over.......

100 years ago, smallpox was a huge problem for humanity. We have come SO far, and to now bring this spectre back is soo shameful. Makes we wonder how 'advanced' we really are sometimes.

If Smallpox breaks out, I'll be one of the poeple taking care of victims or vaccinating the chosen few who get the vaccine...

Ah, you should've held out. Congress should be approving larger compensation soon ;)

I work in the IS dept at a hospital, and I've been thinking about getting it. They have already had one round given out here. We just got a notice today that they will be starting round two soon.

Good luck man.... Those complications that come with it are a bitch tho if you happen to be an unlucky one who does... I just read a very good non-fiction book about small pox.... scarry stuff, but the guy who basically led the battle to eradicate the disease said it isnt worth getting the shot

Yikes. No smallpox vaccine for me, thanks. They've been really pushing it for CDC employees to "set an example" or something. F*ck that. I'm nobody's guinea pig.

Its not that you are a guinea pig, the vaccine works, its just some people get a reactions to it, a sometimes lethal reaction! Did you know the first Smallpox vaccines came from the udders of cows?

I know it works, it's the possibly lethal reaction you can have to it compounded with the extremely small likelyhood that pox will ever be used against us as a weapon that makes me less than enthused about getting the vaccination.

Nope, still alive. :D Arm still hurts though, she stuck it 15 freaking times with a 2 pronged needle OUCH...

She looked @ my right arm (& saw the 9 inch scar along with the old smallpox scar) & told me they'd have to use the right arm...

Why do you need to get revaccinated if you already had a vaccine?
I have one too. Does the immunity fade?
I guess if you had one before, you are probably less likely to have complications from the vaccine.

Actually, virulently harmless smallpox and fowlpox strains are being used to bolster and prime immune-systems against a persons own cancer cells. The result, your immune system starts attacking the cancer cells more successfully.

Often immune system cells have a hard time fighting cancer b/c it is your own cells that are the pathogen and your programmed not to kill yourself.

Is anyone's life worth $300?
