But if you (and the other readers of this thread) learn one thing, remember that for problems like this, python023 is absolutely correct - talk to the prof in person!

Email is for simple question/answer things. When you need to have an actual conversation, do it in person.

Am I missing something?

A 78/100 is pretty good (especially for engineering here), and that's a B+ unless the system is completely different there. However, I must say I shat myself if I got that grade in highschool, but am now more than happy with that.

a 78 is a B+ where you are from? Where is that? I mean w/o curves and what not?

Yea, but this is linguistics 210, and I should have had a 98. Would have been 100 if I had answered the essay and had listed a date on a short answer instead of including it in the long essay I wrote

I agree, but I wanted to get in touch with him right after I got the paper back. While he was handing out the papers he said he didn't want any questions about grading until we had time to think about it, it's even in his syllabus not to ask questions about tests for 24 hours. Also I work until 4:30 on one side of town and his office hours are only until 5:00 on tuesdays and thursdays.

Still probably should have held out for an appointment.
