Quick question, can you play FPS on 360 with usb kb + mouse? That would solve the only problem with console and FPS.

Nope 🙁 Microsoft has not allowed this yet. Sony has allowed it only for Unreal Tournament 3 for the PS3. I am hoping that maybe Microsoft will allow it eventually since Sony has. I assume it would be an easy thing to do. However, the problem is how you would balance online play with those who use controllers and those who use keyboard/mouse.

Natural selection 🙂 For those who prefer the controller, live (or rather die) by it 🙂 I don't think it will matter much since the game is not getting more precise just because your control is more precise. So even if you have better aim with mouse, the target is just bigger so even the people on controller can hit it.

Sony didn't 'allow' it for UT3. KB+M is supported on the PS3 regardless, UT3 just happens to be the only game where the game developers utilized this support.

I have 4+ days playing COD4 online. I still feel like I am garbage at aiming. I still do pretty well and usually have a 1.5:1 KDR but it could be so much better.

OP, I was facing the same situation.....see my laptop is my main system...not only do I have integrated graphics....but I prefer Linux as my OS....so it's fairly obvious I either needed to upgrade to a powerful gaming laptop for high $$$ or I could build a mid range gaming desktop for for maybe $500?? Or I could get a PS3 for $299.99 (special deal through Sony card) and use THIS in conjunction with a PS2 controller USB adapter......and you should be set

And that's what I did....I bought a max shooter adapter for less than $30 shipped, and right now my PS3 is sitting on my desk....hooked to my PC LCD monitor.....and it's awesome....COD4 feels just like on PC.....go grab a max shooter adapter or a smartjoy adapter and you can thank me later.

EDIT:

Here is a Video of a guy with almost the exact setup as I do...

Gentle reminder: Let's not let this devolve into a console vs pc war or I'll have to lock it.

Queasy

COD 4 was the first FPS I've ever played on a console. Got the 360 for Xmas. First few levels I was miserable, couldn't hit a damn thing... by the end of the game I almost think I'd like it better on there than the PC. Not completely sure, but my outlook on FPS sure did change.
