i STILL don't have chat enabled on my Gmail..

I've had a Gmail account longer than anyone I know.... and I still don't have chat enabled...!!

Now everyone I know has it, and they're all asking me why I am not on chat....!!


What is funny is I set up a junk-mail-only Gmail account just about a month ago, and that got chat as soon as I saw news reports about it.

So does everyone have their chat enabled on Gmail already??
 
Have you tried checking Gmail with IE? I've found that chat doesn't work (and therefore just doesn't show up) in some browsers, like Opera.

well, like I said,the browser is not the problem, cause I can see my junk-mail account already has chat... its just my regular use account that does not have it

i would agree, in a way, cause I have so many other chat platforms...

but seeing that i mostly chat with the same ppl that i email with, it suddenly seems to make a lot of sense to have access to past chats just like being able to search thru past emails..

after all, chat is nothing but a rapid series of short emails, isn't it ????
 
okay folks.... update.... I HAVE CHAT !!!

turns out I have probably had it for ages.. just that my profile was set up to not show it

changed my default language in settings from UK English to US English... and bingo!
why that makes any sense is beyond me, but thats what it said to do and it works....

there's a million AOLers who can't spell three-letter-words, but they can chat
 
I got the chat, it works fine in FF

download the google talk software, its better than the web based cuz you don't need the web browser open and has live voice chat too.
 
I have never tried gmail chat, but I think sure there are problems, some friends of mine the chat works, with others doesn't works.
