It's alright. I sit down all day for training which will last about ten weeks*.

I see the other call center employees read magazines, books, go to cnn.com etc. I saw one guy on a forum.

I listened in on phone calls today and boy there are some lonely old people out there. They call and ramble on and on about nothing relating to their account. It's hilarious.

Anyways, just thought I'd inform you all.

I hope I can make it through this and pay for school. I really would love to have a network admin or anything techie related but this will do for now.

I know! Dude, in 10 months, they can probably train you to do just about anything if they wanted to.

Hold one full and one part time job, both are call centre (or contact centre as they like to call it nowadays

). Essentially I'm just a robot trained to respond to calls as soon as I hear that "ding!!!" Everything is about the queue and their obsession with stats. Stats for everything, makes me wanna puke.

Sometimes you do get a good laugh at the stupid calls that comes in though. Like for example a younger gentlemen calls in and I ask him for his phone #? What does he do? Punches the # onto his phone keypad. lol :)

That's the entire point of call centers. What company do you work for?

You will quickly learn that the hardest part of the job is keeping your cool and following BPA when real rude insulting assnuts call in. The technical requirements, stats, hours, etc are nothing compared to how hard it is not to lose your cool

Been there, done that. But my training was only one week. Yeah, you'll get the old lonely people who just call to chat (pretending to have some kind of problem). You have to deal with that because you don't want to drive up your minutes. The % of jerks who call and yell at you are small, but they can really ruin your day.

He should have said in a robot tone "IS.. YOUR... NUMBER.... " Then juts make up a random phone number after doing that 2 or 3 times then juts come on and say..."WHY DON'T YOU JUST SAY YOUR NUMBER....." :)

LOL. "You have selected...um...brown eyed girl, if this is correct, press 1 now."

I used to work in a couple call centers, one was inbound sales. Most people were chill but you'd get a huge a$$ every once and awhile and they could ruin your day. I did survey's for a company later on...I really grew a thick skin then. It could be pretty funny.

Canada, eh?

I'm working two full time jobs until I get laid off from Stream. The hours suck, but I'm making pretty good money (~$50K).

LOL.; but I understand why he did that. Some places ask you to type in your phone number (or some other number).
