Is it really necessary to remove it? Oil evaporates eventually.

How long will it take

Well, depending on how thinly it is spread... months? It will probably erode quickly enough due to rain, wind, and activity on the driveway before it evaporates though. It's also not particularly harmful, what's the problem?

the probelm is that half the drive way is dark the other is not

If the driveway is dark, it's been absorbed in. I don't know if you can get it up then. Maybe try so motor oil cleaner from an auto parts store.

Mix baking soda and dishwasher detergent, add a tiny bit of water to make it pasty. Spread on oil spot. Let sit for a few days, then hose it off.

Dude...bonus...since it's EXTRA VIRGIN, all the cracks in your driveway will close up!!!

Any decent degreaser or even dish soap should do a decent job of removing most of it...there will probably be some residual in the pores that won't come up right away, but should weather away over the course of the year...a pressure washer may help, but I suspect you'll still have some kind of a spot for a while anyway.

Just go buy another container of the stuff and cover the rest of your driveway. Cost less, takes less time, etc. Win/Win

Plus, who doesn't want a darker driveway?
