It's still not perfect, but it's a LOT better than it used to be..now as long as I can remember where I put everything, I should be good! :p

I moved in last August and never took the time to unpack everything/etc. I built a set of shelves a month or two ago and put up some pegboard, which helped - but today I threw out a bunch of stuff (mostly boxes and packing material) and organized the parts that came off (and are going into) the MR2. I also set up an 80,000 BTU heater, which works fairly well - I think it'll work better next time, since after I shut it off I felt a rather cold draft coming from one of the open windows...hmm. That window is now closed.

I stepped up on the work bench and it was a LOT warmer up there, which is to be expected...I need to put a tarp up over the rafters to help keep the heat in, and/or buy a cheap ceiling fan. Thoughts? This is a rental so I don't want to invest the time/money into properly insulating (I'm also not sure if I even could).

Waiting for spring! Well, and for me to put a turbo back in her:

The entryway - don't mind the trash bag and backpack..they're gone now:

My solution for bigger parts that were in the way:

And for engine-ish stuff:

I need a vise and a bench grinder..other than that, it works pretty well for a small car - it would be really nice if both bays were open to each other, but for some reason they're separate (and the other bay has a dirt floor).

I dont see any empty beer cans. Every garage needs empty beers. :D

You might want to get the tool chest over the concrete, rust is you enemy!

Not sure how the weather is in your area but around here if the garage isnt heated cement floord sweat. Cool days with high humidity and the floors look wet.

Nah, my roommate just needs to sell those wheels. :p

Ahh I see. It's not going to be much above freezing for months - I'll put it up on wheels then.

Good stuff. I moved into a place with a 2 car garage that has zero storage/shelving and need to outfit as well.

What's the story with your heater? I wouldn't mind something reasonably small and cheap to bring it up a bit in there.

This.

It seems to do okay - does not put out enough heat to effectively heat the un-insulated garage without putting up ceiling fans or blocking the area above the rafters...on the other hand, one of the little windows up high was open (wtf), so that wasn't helping either.

I think when I put a fan or two up there to move the hot air back down, it should do just fine.

Yeah, for you that makes a lot of sense. And damn, looks like it will do quite fine with some simple insulation!

Tis a bit overkill for me I think. I'd rather stick to electric for various reasons and it seems they are all about the same.

Ah yeah, you have a lot less cold to deal with than I do :D

It is cheap, quick and very effective to get a bundle of lath, a roll of plastic and cover over the walls and ceiling. It would take two guys half a day and it would really warm it up.

Have I mentioned to you yet how awesome Arizona is for car enthusiasts this time of year ?
