I somehow lost Program Files folder!!!

Help! i recently tried to download a warez version of photoshop 6.0 off kazaa (what was i thinking?) After trying unsucessfully to install the program it seems as if I have lost my Program Files folder When I click on my computer, and then C:, there is no longer a folder for program files! What do I do!? I am totally computer stupid. All my programs that had originally been under program files have been rerouted to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs.

Someone help please!

what os r u using (not that it matters, but just curious)? r u sure its just not hidden? i am not sure i understand what u mean by all ur programs being rerouted. do those programs that are installed into the program files dir still work? tsk tsk...warez....

btw, just in case it is some sort of virus, r u familiar with msconfig.exe (only applies if u r using win9x, not sure about nt/2000)? also, u can check out ur autoexec.bat file to see if there is anything funny added in there. if suppose if all checks out well in those two areas, reboot and see if your program files folder reappears.

if you still have all the files, then why don't you just put them back where they belong? but make sure they aren't hidden first or anything.

I feel for you yoyo, but all I can say is backup, backup, backup and backup. Use a separate hd or cdrw. I like norton ghost.

Maybe you could try rebooting, uninstalling the warez, run virus scan of hd then run scan disk for errors.

There are also programs you can buy to recover destroyed data. I had a hd crash a few years ago and paid about $70 bucks for it. When you did use it, it became registered to that hd, so it couldnt be used again on another computer. Data recovery is a lucrative business. Other programs ran about $500. They knew when they had you!

Tools -> Folder Options -> View Tab -> Check "Show Hidden Files and Folders" you damn warez monkey!
