I bought the Westinghouse 22" monitor from best buy, and just sold it to a guy on craigslist today.

He says he's plugging it into his computer and its giving him a "no image displayed" message on his monitor. He called asking if I forgot to give him a cable or something.
I was like 'no it should all be there'.

I bought this thing and just left it in the box and sold it to the guy. i never took it out to test it out or anything. if there's something wrong with it, i dunno. i gave him a copy of the receipt which best buy told me should be good enough if he needs to bring it back for an exchange.

I think he wants me to help him troubleshoot or something,
this sucks.

i sure hope best buy will honor that copied receipt and that the person at the front counter knew what they were talking about when they said the receipt copy would work.

He called to ask if you forgot to give him a cable? You'd think maybe he would have noticed that when he tried to plug it in

He called to ask if you forgot to give him a cable? Sounds like the guy has no clue what he's doing. I doubt there's anything wrong with the monitor.

tell him to take the issue up with Westinghouse or Bestbuy.

YOu gave him the receipt. The item was brnad new when you sold it to him.
It's not your problem anymore.

i gave him a copy of the receipt (a xerox copy) best buy told me itd be fine. but if i have to ill go to the store with him with the real receipt if best buy needs it.

hopefully best buy wont give him some crap like "oh because you are a 2nd owner, you've lost all support"

update: the guy called back last night

right now when the monitor is plugged in the windows startup screen comes on, but then it goes black when it loads his desktop.

definately sounds like more of a configuration issue (breathes a sigh of relief)

Your buyer is a complete moron, who is not capable of trying to boot a VCR, much less a computer, or monitor.

Tell him, when he gets a clue, if the monitor still does not work, you will refund his money. Don't worry...sounds like he will never get a clue.

Really, advise him to take his whole setup to a computer repair shop.

Either way if he doesn't have the receipt, they can look it up at the customer service counter. However if you paid for it with a credit card, they may want verification somehow, so they might need to talk to you on the phone. Usually to look up a receipt they need the phone number or a name.

They will also have the Geek Squad test it before they accept the return if they follow policy right. Maybe they will be able to tell what is wrong with it.

I work at a Best Buy in the Geek Squad so I kinda know hoe BB's policy is.

Just a guess, but maybe he has his PC configured for a higher or different resolution than what the monitor will allow. Ask him to hook up his old monitor, set his desktop to something low (800x600), then boot up with the new monitor.
