I should have nothing to worry about, right?

Dell 2405fp with a ti4200?

Plan on gaming? If so, plan on a resolution of 960x600; you might need PowerStrip for it though.

I doubt a TI4200 has the juice to drive anything on this side of tetris at 1920x1200... Actually, don't you need some sort of "Dual-Link DVI" for high resolutions?

I am pretty sure a normal dvi can do it just fine...

I don't game at high resolutions so that's fine

It'll work, but just barely. I guess you'll need to set an option called reduced blanking.

I knew there was some sort of limitation about single-link DVI. Can't go over 165MHz. 1920x1200 @ 60hz rb is right on the edge of that.

damnit

does reduced blanking have any effect on image quality/ghosting/etc?

Probably. To be honest, I don't mess around with LCDs (For this very reason 🙂).

Man I remember when the Ti4200 was nearly cream of the crop.

It'll be fine, but, as others have mentioned, don't plan on any gaming.

Just out of curiosity, you do understand how LCDs work, right?

what do you mean? they work at any resolution as long as it doesn't exceed the # of pixels it has

on my 19" lcd I game at 800x600 I think...I don't remember, haven't played in a while

It doesn't quite work that way. It does, but any resolution other than native looks like ass. I bought a 6800 to power my 2001fp, I like the high resolutions but my old ti4200 didn'T.

One other option is to run the display letterboxed. I can't remember exactly what it's called, but you can blank portions of the monitor to make your selected resolution native. I don't like that option though, I didn't buy a large display to turn part of it off.

Sure you can game at 800x600 on your 19" LCD but it looks like crap.

Anything other than native resolution always looks like arse on LCDs.

I'm using a 19" lcd now and I had a 2001fp for a while. I never had any problems with the games on lower resolutions. They all look great on any resolution
