I had a Asus A7N8X Deluxe in an Lian-Li Aluminum Case and powered it on, but didnt boot, so I'm guessing I shorted out my mobo, is my CPU dead also?

Thanks in advance.

Just chk the grounding...clear the CMOS & try again.

Wow Ricky, that really sucks.

But just to be sure, clear the CMOS and try again, and make sure its properly grounded. I wouldn't think you could fry your motherboard that easily.

Yeah check everything, including the power supply and the contact of the motherboard to the case (and the rubber grommets in between them)

What you could try is to place the mobo on cardboard (like the box it came in), then plug in just the CPU, 1 stick of RAM, the Video card and the Power Supply and the power switch. Make sure all of the motherboard is on the cardboard and everything is plugged in correctly. By placing it on the cardboard, it cannot create a short circuit. Hope this helps.

take the mobo outta the case and set it on some non conductive surface and try to post it from there?

i am willing to bet if he put the mobo on a non conductive material the system would post. adumbass i know, built his comp himself and didnt put the spacers that it needs between teh metal case and teh mobo and it wouldnt turn on. I fixed teh prob for him, and all teh hardware was still fine. The case i am refering to was a Lian li case too.. it should come with lil things that look like arches
