Well im exactally sure what it is, but it sure as hell feels like it...

Typically after dinner i come back up to my room and just relax. Starting about an hour after dinner usually (7-8pm) for some reason my heart always feels like its racing, i feel clammy, and i get a warm cold feeling (kinda hard to describe). Almost like my hands feel warm and clammy but the rest of my body gets quite cold. At times i even notice a shallowness to my breathing. Thoughout this though, i feel very alert. Like i got a shot of adreneline.

Its done this the past week or so and its starting to bother me....

I dont have much to be stressed about. I sit here, 5000 miles away from home, with class 2 days a week, and travelling around europe.

The only thing i can pinpoint is my homesick-ness.

Ive actually thought of that. I've been using the computer as a distraction, but apparently its not working as well as it did when i first got here.

Are you falling asleep while still awake? Do you feel a pressure on your chest or hear any roaring wind sound?

Nope, actually im very far from it. I couldnt be happier with my life right now.

I was the one who wanted to beat up a friend who called my girlfriend a rude name. It all worked out in the end though.

Well if during all this you're very confident that you're going to die, you feel like you're going to have a heart attack, your hands clench and you can't open them...then it would be a panic / anxiety attack (although all vary, these are common). Most common is the strong feeling that something terrible is about to happen.

After dinner...hmm..........I'd have to guess that there's too much MSG in your food.

Sounds like a chemical imbalance to me, over production of insulin can cause what you describe quite easily. Elevated blood sugar levels can cause these types of problems as well, the increased heart rate would lead me to think it's JUST insulin or a mixture of blood sugar and insulin problems. Try eating lean meat and vegetables for a whole day and only drink water, if it dosen't happen then your body is making to much insulin when you eat pure sugars.

I'm glad that other problem worked out, Ameesh. I remember now. I think the insulin suggestion in a good one to follow up on. There is definitely something interesting about the periodicity you describe. It could be after meal related. You might want to read up on some of the symptoms of insulin to be sure you can be aware of what to watch for.

Cut down your sugar and salt at dinner, also drink water instead of other drinks. Ive had panic disorder for many years, I still can't get the hang of it sometimes though. But the lower caffeenie helped me just a bit but not much.....since I have gone to taking medication for it.

I get the same thing (minus being cold) every few nights or so. I've found that I usually get it when I'm subconsciously excited or nervous about something coming up the future, and when that event passes, I don't get the feeling for a while. Then something else comes up, and it'll happen. It's weird, but I've found I don't get it much at all when I exercise regularly because my mind relaxes when I use up my extra energy. :)

So you're not just a freak or anything, and from what I've heard from friends it's fairly common.

I agree it's annoying. Actually, I'm getting the feeling right now (heart beating fast, little surges of heat (adrenaline?) going into my chest). It's probably cuz my folks are coming down for thanksgiving. AHH!
