I'm starting to see wavy lines on my monitor. When I degauss, it goes away, but then shortly comes back. I've removed all electronic devices away from my monitor such as my speakers, but the wavy lines won't go away. Is my monitor messed up? Thanks.
it may be...take it to a electronics repair shop and have it professionally degaussed. this may correct the problem. If not it may be time for a new monitor.
you might also check the pins in the monitor cable to see if they're bent. that can cause all sorts of weird things. it is possible to straighten the pins & fix the monitor.
Well the monitor is still under warranty so I'm wondering if I should just contact them. How much does having it professionally degaussed cost? I've checked the pins and used other monitor cables. I've even tried waving back. No luck.
Have you checked the 3.3v on the PS? I had the same problem with a 4 month old PS. Got wavy lines that would drift across the screen. I thought degaussing seemed to help for a moment but in the end I noticed the PS was dropping below 3v. Swapped the PS and it's been fine since.
My Sony G420S will run 1280x1024 @ 100Hz BUT there are WAVY LINES on the screen. Now if I run my monitor at 1280x1024 @ 85Hz the wavy lines go away and all is happy in the world.
Try lowering the refresh. You may have it out of specification on accident.
There should be horiztonal and vertical moire settings on your monitor - just increase/decrease the setting until they go away. They're usually the most visable on grey application backgrounds.
