I am amazed, i always read the labels to see what is in it. I see more and more HFCS products appear in the groceries shop.
Before it was always sugar.

How dangerous is HFCS ?

High Corn Fruit Syrup is good for you. You get your veggies and fruits at the same time, all while eating pancakes of waffles (your choice).

I don't have a big issue with HFCS, but I was surprised to see it in some cough syrup I took the other day.

I have a corn allergy, so HFCS is a real pain since they put it in EVERYTHING in America. On the flip side, I get better faster when I get sick now because I DON'T take medicine, hahaha. It's all laced with corn! The binders in pills are corn, they use HFCS as sweetener in bottled stuff, they even put corn starch in Tums!

Seriously? I doubt it's any worse for you than regular sugar. It definitely does not taste as good though. Your tax dollars at work.

I was surprised to find HFCS in more and more products here in the EU.
But i did notice i am getting a full and satisfied feeling rather quickly when i ate some fruit quark (dairy product) that had HFCS in it. If the rumor may be true or not that HFCS may keep you eating ? I think those overweight people have a psychological problem that makes them eat, because the eating makes them feel good. And it is a fact sweeteners do make one feel happy for a short moment.

Know what else has HFCS that you would never even guess? Maple syrup! Yes, most of the popular brands of maple syrup such as Aunt Jamima is not actually real maple syrup. I imagine if you look hard enough you'll find the real stuff, but most people just buy what's in front of them and what they've known and grew up with, and assume the product actually is what it says. WRONG! Check the ingredients. Check the ingredients on peanut butter too. It's not just peanuts. If, there even is peanuts.

Lot of companies use very sneaky tactics to mislead the consumer, without actually lying, and still follow all the regulations such as listing the ingredients. The food industry is not about feeding us, it's about making money, without getting sued, so they still have to put some effort towards making food actually safe, but not more than that. If it taste good, we keep buying it, does not really matter what's in it.

I thought you were canadian, squirrel. No self respecting canadian calls aunt jemima 'maple syrup'... cause it ain't.

Pro tip - if it costs $2 and comes in a plastic bottle, it's probably not maple syrup.

I think the problem is they put it in everything, at least in USA. That gets everyone trained to expect everything to taste sweet, so people demand more sweet in everything, manufacturers add more sugar, rinse, repeat.

That makes sense. I deliberately use tea without sugar and coffee without sugar. When i make my pasta sauce or soup, i also do not add sugar. I noticed that because of this, when i eat fruit, the fruit is really sweet. As is a liter bottle of cherry coke (which i consumed in the timeframe of about 8 hours).
I noticed that the enjoyment of something sweet is much stronger then when i do not consume sugar laced products all day. I feel i get numbed down when consuming a lot of sugar. It makes sense though, are our sugar "receptors" also not exciting the reward / pleasure center in our brain ?
I do have noticed that in the evening, i am a sugar craver unless i eat enough meat.

Also, consuming lot's of sugar is really bad for the digestive system. I bet or fungi get more of a hold or certain bacteria strains, that create the effect that in the end the stool comes out more soft.

It's in fcking everything, just like salt is jam packed up everything's ass and also artificial sweeteners are in basically all sweet-tasing "low calorie" products of any kind.

Science isn't helping us when it comes to diet. Looks like trans fats are finally on the way out, basically poison but were in lots of foods we ate for many years.
