I searched first :] - XP OEM or NFR - Can I make SURE that the person has NOT activated the KEY before we exchange?

I'm trying to buy a copy of XP home/prof, but I have a problem: 😱
The one thing that keeps bothering me about the whole idea of trying to buy a copy of XP is that the ones that are opened could easily have been copied and the key written down. On the other hand, the OEM copies have the KEY on the OUTSIDE of the package too. So, I don't know a good solution for getting around this apparent problem. Hence, I'm always leary of the sale... even on the super low ballers. Especially the OEM's, know what I mean? I just don't know how to tell if the KEY has been copied down and waiting to be used
again... 🙁 I want a LEGIT copy to put on my little sister's machine for when she goes to college this fall and is FAR AWAY from me and technical support. I do NOT want her havin' to hassle w/ crap that someone created for us!

The short but obvious answer is buy a retail shrink wrapped version from a reputable dealer. The long answer is their is no way to know until you try and activate that product key. I think you can find XP home for $89 or so if you search.
