...and once we rush their homes with torches and pitchforks in hand, we shall proceed to hang said individuals upside down from their ankes, and proceed to beat them mercilessly with sacks of doorknobs.

xupiter: ok, here's our whole marketing scheme. we are going to install a bunch of crap on people's systems and totally inconvience them so we can earn 5 cents on the ad and expland our operations and become a reputable company with a good word-of-mouth reputation. we will force users to visit our web page when they start up their browser, we will change their bookmarks, change their default search engine, and they are going to love us for it!

Last time I checked, AdAware didn't cover the damage that Xupiter does, they may have changed that. I use SpyBot Search and Destroy to excersice the Xupiter demons from my box.

And there's no such thing as "No" with Xupiter, unless I want to click yes or no everytime a script wants to run itself, which I equally hate :p

Nah, I forget the last version I tried. Like I said though, SpyBot has had me covered nicely for a while now.

Use Mozilla Firebird. Use AdAware 6. Use Spybot. Use freaking caution.

With the above you should not be complaining about any crap on the comp. I NEVER have any problems with viruses, spyware, scripts, whatever... Just cause I'm careful about what I use. And if I do get something, I can realize it was my own damn fault. There will always be fvcktards out there trying to screw you over or screw up your sh1t...

Xupiter has never given me problems on my systems. But I've had to remove it from other people's systems.

In fact, aside from an early infection of Comet Curser, I've never had a single problem with spyware or adware with the exception of some pretty harmless cookies.

Just click NO. How hard is that?

If I'm not mistaken, I think Xupiter is based out of Hungary.

Anyway, I've seen two instances of the Xupiter hijack. Both on coworkers personal computers. Easy removal with Ad-Aware 6.0.

Still annoying though.

Really? Send me someplace you think Xupiter will load on my machine and I'll tell you if I get infected or not.

I ask, because I NEVER have been infected with this thing. Maybe it has something to do with my IE security settings?

Amused, try going here and see what happens.

EDIT - acutally, scratch that, it actually prompts you when you go to that URL...

I was looking through remix.overclocked.org when it appeared in my toolbar, without prompts

What part of that website? I got a bunch of blocked popups, but that's it.

Nothing specific as far as I know, but I downloaded a few MP3s from there and that was about the extent of my visit. When I left I had Xupiter in my toolbar...

Otherwise, I agree, my spirit will be with you even if my body stays in Europe.
I recommend an attack against the BonziBuddy HQ, too.

It is not your security settings. I click no on it too. If people hate the program so bad then they shouldn't install it.

Everytime I have seen it there is. Maybe I am just going to better quality pR0n sites when I see it.
