The Pro's:

Would generate a significant amount of revenue for the Government.

Lowers prison populations.

Prisoners with "nothing to lose" have a reason to still be breathing.

Entertaining as that match of Tribes 2 I played back in the day with 93 people and a good ping.


Con's:

Horribly ill-humane

Cruel and mean and whatever blaw blaw bring on the games !

Raises one important question though: What if they win? Do they gain anything by fighting, except for living another day? If the death penalty is simply moved till a later time they don't have a reason to fight, and you don't want a convicted murderer to walk away free, and with honor, just because he killed a few more people in an arena.

And if a serial killer/rapist/whatever 'performs' really well, how do you want to bring that to the public? Telling them how good that guy is means you are insulting his victims and negating his penalty.

Edit: Releasing them on a closed off terrain and letting trained marines/cops hunt them might be better, and would also take care of good ratings. And it would be good practice in hunting down people.
