I happened to be in Palm Springs, CA for Thanksgiving this year at my Mother-In-Law's house and woke up at 5:30AM on Turkey Day to the most beautiful sunrise I've seen in quite some time. I happened to have my Canon 30D with me so I immediately set out to shoot some pics.

As I was framing my shots I thought of Acemcmac and decided I'd make a post for him.

This shot is straight out of the camera at dawn with absolutely no post processing (for the photography buffs here). I really wish I brought a tripod because I could have shot at ISO 800 and the pics wouldn't be as grainy...oh well.

Dedicated to Acemcmac

Yeah, I have my Canon 30D set to the highest resolution. I have the raw image of all the photos I shot too. :D

I'll do my best. ;) I've managed to live 2 entire days since then so I think I'm good.

Thanks!

Cool. Glad to see there isn't an AT/sunrise jinx.

Just don't go bar hopping tonight...

I'm not planning on it. Just fixing dinner for the wife and son. I'm glad to be home actually...I really enjoyed spending time with my In-Laws but it's nice to back in my own home and I'm really really looking forward to sleeping in my own bed with my wife and without my son.

I'll have to resize some of the other pics tomorrow and post them. There are some really nice pics.

Oil rig?

:(

No, I was being serious. It looks like the rather tall structure goes straight down to the water, and the only thing I could think of that looks like that is an oil rig. And it is a nice sunrise. :)

While it's not a sunrise, this looks nice and I was able to take it at sail away tonight. :D

Even managed to "catch" a plane taking off.

Thanks. I really needed a tripod but didn't bring one. Oh well, lesson learned. Next time I'm out there (which will be Christmas) I'll bring the tripod for sure.
