I saw the movie "Contact" for the first time last night

So I saw the movie Contact last night after it being out for 9 years, I must say though that it was a lot better than I would have thought it would have been.

I was impressed with the whole scientist not believing in God having a God like experience and no one believing her because she couldn't prove it much like there being a God.

Which makes me wonder, what other movies I have I missed out on that are worth watching or "must see" movies from years past?

What did you all think of the whole underlying theme in the movie?

I wonder if Carl Sagan would have liked that whole comparison to God point of view since he admittedly didn't believe in God himself, yet wrote the book the movie was made after.

I saw it in the theater when it came out. I loved it. Great movie. Decent plot, and I agree what other good movies are out there, that have been missed. Matthew McConaughey wasn't bad to look at either. ;)

The alien talked to her in the form of her dad 'cause if the alien showed itself in its true form, Eleanor's head would explode.

I really liked how they made it a point to show that there was more static video footage than there was supposed to be. Let's you know it really happened, and the b!tch wasn't just on a acid trip.

Good movie!

Well I agree but wasn't surprised since it's 9 years old now and I heard about that a long time ago as most people's gripe.

That aside I still think it was well done and a somewhat thought provoking movie.

I was always stand-offish because it just looked like to dull and boring of a movie and while I do think it was a little long at about 2hr 38mins, it was still worth the watch without a doubt IMO.

Did you see the same movie?

It wasn't her Dad, it was just the Aliens making theirself look like her Dad and the setting to be the beach that she drew a picture of for her Dad at the beginning of the movie in an attempt to make it less frighting for her.

It was pretty good. The whole movie built itself up so you would expect to see an alien. The ending was smart and intelligent though.

If you watch it again or even a few more times you'll pick up on a whole slew of sublties. (sp?) su-tul-ties.

I believe that if it were to happen, the movie spelled it out very well. Especially socities reacion.

jebus I can't spell today.

Good movie!

I was relived they did this also, lets us know for sure that it wasn't all in her head.

Also thought it was a nice touch at the end how the dedicated it to Carl Sagan.

I was thinking that in the scenes where there's the huge crowds gathered around the SETI location in Nevada and also in FL when the attempted the first "launch" I'm almost sure that's close to the circus people would make of it.

It would be such an amazing thing for something of that nature to take place in real life, I'd without a doubt be willing to take the risk and go in the "space ship" thing.

It will never be released to the public anyhow so nobody would know. ;)

Jodie Foster did a good job actressing.

I liked the movie, but it was way less than the book which I'd read first.

If you read the book you'll see what I mean.
