well i saw the movie tonight, and i enjoyed it greatly. however the end was a little confusing to me, and could someone please explain it to me?

at the end, he was supposed to assassin the guy who was going to be the president, but instead, the vice president guy got in the way of denzel's site, knowing that he would not shoot the gun because he was not the target. then after all that, he decides to assasinate the vice president guy, and kill his mother who is in charge of it all. if he was hypnotized, how did he change his orders on his own? that part just didn't make sense to me and i would like clarification.

also, i did not understand, at all, the way they changed the security tape of him walking in. can someone please explain those 2 things to me? i thought the movie was very good, with alot of twists, but would like some clarification please. thanks!

How did he overcome his brainwashing?: Who the hell knows. Just go with it.
How did they edit the tape?: It's the movies. They can do anything ;)

Edit: Just read the other thread. Guess I'm way off on why the VP got shot. It's been a few weeks since I saw the movie :p

thanks that helped actually. i pretty much assumed what most of those guys were talking about, but i was hoping there would be more to it. it's kind of a let down actually heh and i was hoping it would be something a little more deep than the explanations in that thread.

however, at the end when they still mess around with the security tapes, who was that guy they replaced him with? and i still don't understand why they would replace him if, even though brainwashed, with someone else ... aside from them wanting to find out more from him(Denzel).

My impression was that they replaced Denzel with some random suspicious-looking guy to take the blame away from Denzel... The movie seemed to indicate that maybe they realized that what the gov't did to him made him do what he did, and he didn't deserve to be punished because of it.

Who knows, maybe the agents even claimed to have killed Denzel at the end and let him loose somewhere else with a clean identity...that's up to you to decide. :)
