I was at a conference and there was a special panel discussion with Derrida. The panel was "Derrida on Religion", it was actually not as good as I was hoping it would be...the questions were fairly lame. However it was amazing to see Derrida in person and hear him speak.

Anyways, that's my excitement for the week...has anyone else heard him speak before? How did you find him in person?

derrida is a famous french deconstructionist. some of his best work IMHO concerns our postmodern method of lifting qoutes of various texts and placing them together in effect creating a single intertext, a whole of which all text is mated through in a gird-like combination...

beatniks - I'm glad someone appreciates my excitement:) He gave the speech in English which was rare, the conference was in Toronto. Apparently, some of his best seminars were done while he was at Villanova.

Anyways I'll tell you more impressions later now that I know someone cares!
