with one foot missing. It as hopping along the sidewalk and everytime it would get tired, it would rest and pull up the injured leg into it's body. It was so sad to see...it had NO foot! but somehow it adapted to its injury and was hopping along like all the other pigeons. I think there are pics..but I suspect I won't be getting any of them..b/c I never do. OH well.

I once saw a three-legged dog, blind in one eye, neutered, and missing an ear.

His dog tag read, "Lucky"

Yeah, a missing foot for a bird isn't that huge a disability because their feet aren't their primary mode of transportation. I've seen a one footed seagull... hopped kinda funny, but should it ever be threatened by predators, it could still fly away.

My uncle owns a carpet store, and he'd always feed the birds out front. One bird that always came back was a one-footed pigeon, I think he named it Stumpy or something like that, but the thing always knew where to go for food, lived for a while too, he said.

I worked at a TV station for a while when I was in school. One night I was helping the engineer with transmitter maintenance. He told me that one time, when he had the tower shut down, some birds landed and were pirched on the coax that runs from the transmitter to the tower (coax...it's more like a 4 inch copper pipe). When he turned the transmitter back on, the birds flew away, but their feet stayed stuck to the coax

Dang I feel sorry for birds like that.

I saw a bird that was even more messed up. One foot was cut off and tied to its good foot. Probably some kid messing around. :(

Ah this reminds me. I saw a pigeon at the tube station here that had both its feet but they were like peg legs. It was basically walking on two nubs. Walked fine tho albeit a little weird.

I think he was pulling your leg pun intended
What would cause their legs to stay there?

Kill it! G0d damned sky rats. Kill em all. I hate pigeons.

We had a pigeon flopping around our neighborhood a couple summers ago (I think my neighbor shot it with a pellet gun but only wounded it). It was starving and made its way to my entry area where my wife found it unable to move because it was so weakened. I told her to go inside that I would "take care" of it. I grabbed a shovel from the garage, whacked it a couple times and tossed it in the trash can.

You can see a lot of that by the coasts where birds' feet get tangled up with fishing line and get amputated.

Wow you're cool, thanks for putting it out of it's misery.

It's illegal to kill pigeons...

i've seen a number of one-footed seagulls and pigeons. i think it's cause the deformity doesn't seem to affect them too much, so they can get along ok and still breed.

I did it a favor. I'd do it again in a second.

They nest in the eaves of homes nearby (I had to have netting installed in my eaves to get rid of the damned sky rats). They crap all over my house and property. They sit on my chimney and coo at each other. I want them dead. I don't care if it is illegal to kill them. Give me a chance and I'd whack em all.
