I was in a spot of dense traffic, just north of Rohnert Park. It was stop and go. I could see up ahead a cop car pulled off to the side of the road with his headlights going. As I approached I could see a cop with his gun drawn on a man who was laying face down with his hands on the back of his head. The police officers partner was standing next to the cop car talking on the radio. The man was wearing a black leather jacket. I couldn't see anything else. His bike was parked not to far from where he was laying down. At this point I could only see them in my rear view mirror.

I wonder what he did to get the cops to arrest him like that. I also wonder why he wasn't cuffed. Maybe I should be watching the news!

I don't blame them for being careful. Drawing a gun is not the same as shooting it.

I once saw the 405 closed because about 20 cops had their guns on some dude in a pickup truck. Mainly I was just annoyed that my drive was going to take an extra 10 minutes.

well, i agree with you sort of, but i wouldnt take it quite that far. they need to pull their guns more often since it would probably save their lives in some instances. i bet a lot of people would back down if they had the consumer end of a gun pointed at them.

A lot of police officers take precautions pulling over people now-a-days. Some people that they pull over might have outstanding arrest warrants and others look dangerous (probable cause).

I see that you're going on the 101 and that is the Hollywood Fwy, where there could be potential gang activity (gang activity is everywhere these days). You never know, and police are only doing their jobs (so give them the benefit of the doubt, don't judge them if you don't know the situation, and give them a break). Also if you suspect a misuse of authority, get the camcorder out ala Rodney King. Courtesy to police officers go a long way, even if you feel that they are wrong.

I have a relative in law enforcement, that is why...

since he was on a bike, he was probably going fast...and when you go fast you might be running from something.

That's nice...glad no cars stopped quickly in front of you while you were busy rubber necking.
