i save to cmos and the computer wont post or restart, just a black screen

asus p2b bx motherboard.......p2 cpu........i740 agp vid card-------


the only way i can bring her back to life.......and the only way i can get the post to happen again...........is if i clear cmos.........oh and with the revision 1.10 of this moterboard.........there are no clear cmos jumpers.......i just have to take the battery out for a few minutes

that will reset your cmos to factory default.
dare I ask what changes you were trying to make?

any changes to cmos that are saved will result in the post not happening.............simple things like detect hdd or...........nothing out of the ordinary

have you tried reflashing your bios?
do you have antiviral software with recent definitions? a virus could attack your bios if the bios update in bios features setup is left set to enable!

Have you tried a new CMOS Battery ?? I absolutely would NOT recommend trying to flash your BIOS at this time.

im trying another battey..............im afraid to flash my bios.......since the sys keeps hanging.........thanks for the help
