I salute the Palm Beach County Canvassing Board

First, it was stupid not to count on Thanksgiving. That is their own fault and they can whine about the deadline as much as they want, but the truth is, they missed it because of their own actions.

All that aside.

If Miami-Dade and Broward County were hand counted using the same criteria that PBC used, Bush would have won the recount with every single ballot looked at.

I salute and honor the PBC canvassing board for not sucumbing to the incredible pressure and sticking to their standard.

You hear a great deal about how they were excluding dimples. That is simply not true. They had a standard that said voter intest must be clear. They counted dimples if there were other dimples under the assumption that the person was frail and had trouble with the equipment. They counted ballots where the chad was at least parially punched.

What they did not count was a dimpled chad when the other races were punched. They felt that that did not show clear intent to vote.

Even though all three were Democrats, they did an honest job.

Too bad the other two Counties were willing to find votes where clear intent did not exist.

DefRef - if the other two counties were using the same standard as PBC, would you agree to a full hand count of their ballots?
