I roxor cause I overkloxore

Well I finally wanted to kick it up a notch so I went in to my bios and told it to overclock my system by 10% and now I'm running at 3519.8Mhz with a 880 FSB (Effective)

Now I want to get it to 3600mhz can I do it? My processor temp is 50*C my case temp is 28*C all air cooled with a stock HS/F

The Processor is a P4 3.2GHz Northwood .13u with a voltage of 1.488 If I bump the voltage to 1.5 or 1.55 would I be safe?

Right now here is what cpuz is recording,

Core Speed 3520MHz
Multiplier X16.0
FSB 220.0
Bus Speed 880 MHz

Memory Timings:
Freq: 146.7
FSB DRAM: 3:2
CAS Lat: 2.0
RAS# to CAS# Delay 4 clocks
RAS# Precharge 4 clocks
Cycle Time (tras) 8 clocks

The Mobo is an Asus P4C800-E Deluxe

who would have thunk it, guess you can do it.

narzoc.png but I don't think its stable, I have the core voltage set at 1.575 and its going between 1.520 and 1.488 weird.

😉 No, he's got a P33.2 with a typo (P3 32) which is being misread by cpu-z as a Pentium 4.
Did you get the proc with a NDA? or can you tell us more about this future CPU? :Q 😀

BTW, how stable is the OC'd system in crunching?

At 3.6ghz its not stable. At 3.5 its rock solid.

I didn't know they made PIII 3.2GHz Northwood CPUs. I thought they were all P4 now. 😉

I have no clue what your talking about 😉

The truth is out there! 😛

Congrats narzy

what voltage are you using?

My 2.8 is at 3.2 (ram limited) using 1.55V but only 1.48 actual. I believe your proc. should be a 1.5V stock proc so you could probably go as high as 1.6 easily as your mobo will probably undervolt anyways. maybe even 1.6.

edit: what kind of ram do you have. Also what is its voltage set to?

MB is running at 1.6 v (1.54 effective) I just bumped it up, I also bumped the FSB up to 221.49 and am now getting 3543.8MHz
Micron and OCZ PC 3200 CAS 2-2-3 running at 2.55v

I have the exact same board here running a P4 3.0 Northwood at 15X247 for a speed of 3705, OCZ pc4000 running 1:1 at 2.5,4,4,8. CPUz says the voltage is at 1.520.

I actually have about 4 of these Asus boards and like them very much.

I'm running a Northwood 3.2 @ 3.6. 1.55V and runs 60C with the stock Intel HSF on an Abit IS7.

The Ram is only at 2.55V? There is your problem I believe. Most pc3200 runs stock at 2.6V and commonly you have to bump them up to 2.7 V when overclocking. I would go as high as 2.75/2.8V (they are rated for 2.8V); especially as its OCZ it might even take more, but I wouldn't advise it.

Let me know your results

The question is...

Do you roxor as much as my wife's physics professor? She's always telling me about this guy and how he brags about his p4 3.8 that's OC'd to 4.0 and constantly refers to how having a pci-e "video graphics board" constites him having the FASTEST computer known to man. He always makes a point of how his computer is better than anything anyone in that class could possibly have... *sigh*

pwahaha ,whilst his CPU is fast their is faster out there.
And if he's got a PCIE 5200 then its still a POS 😉
Tell him to check out the overclockers.com CPU database😛

dude you RULE! that totally worked, I didn't even think about the memory voltage, I bumped it up to 2.75, and now I'm running 3.6GHz rock solid! narzoc2.png

Edit- whelp its not stable 🙁.

run memtest. Does that pass at that speed (3.6 ghz?) if yes then you know its your cpu reaching its natural limitations vs. say a ram issue.

Also does your mobo have the latest bios?

All your other software/drivers updated?

Did a defrag/virus/spyware/malware scan?

The crashing, if it's every now and again could be a symptom of something else.

What power supply do you have? It could be your psu not giving it clean power.

Lastly. 3.542 is close enough to 3.6 😉..especially in a pentium. you will not notive the difference..but it does sound nice 😀

Try aiming a fan at the northbridge. If I'm not mistaken those Asus boards have passive cooling and that may hinder an OC in a stuffy case.
