I require printer advice

Greetings lads and lasses.

I just learned that I'll be needing a new laser printer for home use, on rather short notice. What is considered to be the best deal/device in the low end, B&W, personal laser printer market these days? I don't want to spend substantially more than 100 dollars, and Linux compatibility is strongly preferred; but not essential. My current printer is a laserjet 4L, more than a decade old, so I'm a bit out of touch on this.

Thanks

The Brother HL-2040 looks like a good choice. I've owned a brother laser printer in the past and I was very happy with it. It is compatible with Linux and it can be found for less than $100 online.

OKi's have flaky Linux support. Love their color/LED lasres though.

HP 1012 - have dozens all over the place. Rugged, good driver support, fast, and built like tanks. You can usually find them for $100-150

Brother hl2030 and 2040 are consistently available really cheap, especially if you find them refurbished. They're fast, have a a decent footprint, good drivers (for multi-paging and such), the ink is cheap,.

I hate to sound like an advertisement, but I've set these things up for a few people and they are all thrilled with them; 2030 only does usb; I'd get whatever one is cheaper since there's not a whole lot to choose between them otherwise.

I'm still using an older 1230 model that I picked up about 3 years and 5000 pages ago, and it's running like a champ.
