Churches shouldn't be allowed to signs on them, that way people who don't believe don't even have to know that they're there. Yesterday I was walking on a public sidewalk and I saw this sign for a church that had times on it to come and worship J---s. It was insulting, how can they cram their beliefs down my throat like that? It had the J word on it and everything.

Also water skiing should be outlawed because it looks like people walking on water. Keep that garbage where it belongs.

They used the J-word!?!?!?

Twice :Q

What sad times we live in 🙁

Don't end a sentence with a preposition.

You translated that wrong but good for you anyway.

The word seclorum does not mean "secular," as one might assume, but is the genetive (possessive) plural form of the word seculum, meaning generation, century, or age.

I am proved wrong. Now answer my question.

How about on a public sidewalk? Or a public beach? Or a public anything? Christians, as well as every other religious group, have a right to express their beliefs anywhere that they want to (with some limits, based on separation of church and state). Just because you don't agree with their opinion doesn't mean they have any less of a right to express it to you.
This is certainly true, but the problem is that too many Christians like Paul Harvey distort the events which clearly separate church and state into some kind of false, state-led persecution. They shout slogans like "Let God back into the classroom!" -- but no one ever told them they couldn't bring their religions to school with them. They just can't get the teacher to endorse their Christian God in particular, because in doing so they've immediately told little Hazem and little Samir that their gods aren't equally important or welcome. That's not to mention little April who doesn't believe in any god and doesn't want to, but knows enough to know that god-believers look upon her disfavorably. Can't the Paul Harveys of the world put themselves in the others' shoes for a second? Do you think he'd be so eager to send his children to a school where the students were each given prayer rugs, and every day after lunch the teacher stopped class so that everyone could face Mecca and pray Dhuhr?

I'll defend your right to practice your religion in public with equal vigor that I'll defend the rights of students not to have to endure teacher-led prayers that only serve to make them feel like second-class citizens when the prayer is directed to a God that he and his family don't believe in.

-Garth

I went to school and learned how to read.
Was it a religious school by any chance?🙁

There's nothing more feasible about the Christian God. Feasibility is not what religion is about. The issue that every atheist has with religion is that it isn't logical... which is exactly the premise of religion. It's about belief in something larger than the individual, the group, the nation, the world, and the universe, without proof. It's not something you even consciously decide... "hey, that God looks good. *ding* I believe in him." All religions with Gods are faith-based. You either believe, or you don't. You can take logical steps towards belief in each God, but there are no accepted rules of logic which will bring you to a conclusion, God or no God. So either you accept that, or you don't.

No, it was a carpentry school where they drilled a hole in his head and sucked what was left of his "BB in a bathtub" brain out.

keep your religious garbage where it belongs.

Is this the tolerance Christians are supposed to have for others? Oh! Now I get it.

No we dont have tolerance for religios people, heres why.
The leaders of your religion, all across the country, have raped little boys. You believe in the ilogical, have no proof of his being, and cant give me a reason why your god is more fesible than the greek godS

so you're gonna lump the small % of CATHOLIC priests to be representative of all sects of Christianity? Hooray for tolerant all inclusive liberalism.

Im not a liberal, and yes, i will lump your religios leaders together.

You did not answer my main question though because you cant. There no reason to believe in the christian god over the greek gods. They are both myth.

This statement alone shows that you have no idea what you are talking about. If you had even studied 1% of Biblical documents/history/culture and the elements that make up the bible and compared them to the mythos/history and background of greek gods you wouldn't make such a ignorant, blind and fanatical statement.

I can pretty much guarantee that you have neither 1) read the Bible in its entirety even once 2) studied enough of Biblical history to even start making educated conjectures on the Bible/Christianity.

Yes I could sit here and debate such things with you - but from your repsonses it seems you are neither open minded to a true debate or willing to research anything significant behind your lame hypotheses.

Or you can just run real quick to some lame "counter Christian" logic website which claims they know the logical "attacks" against Christianty and try to copy/paste those arguments. For some reason tho - I think trying to have a genuine debate with you would be pointless

Hmmmmmmmm........ I went to a christian school and yes have read and studied the bible. I also know that by the bible geneoligy the world is little over 5000 years old. Now we can prove that jessus was a real man, but no one can prove his holyness. Unfortunatly in the same way that we can prove jessus we can prove that the people that wrote the greeks scriptures are real also. Though both are real people, neither is proof of a god. The bible is supposed to be a text that states history from the start of the world. They have no mention of dinosours or any of the older animals, species. Why is that?

I have deep religios conversations with people face to face, but i enjoy to flame online. Still, you didnt answer my question.

Wow....that was the lamest rebuttal I've ever seen. You may have read parts of the bible and taught parts of it. But again - I can pretty much guarantee that you haven't read it in its entirety. However, even if you had - I know that you have never gone and studied the historicity of biblical documents/culture,etc. That is shows in the questions you pose themselves.

In addition your assumption that the Bible was written to show the history from the beginning of the world is wrong. That was NOT the purpose of the Bible. If you had truly studied the Bible in depth - you would know that. Knowing this you would understand why the Bible doesn't detail nature and its occurences - because THATS not the PURPOSE of the Bible. Additionally, some argue that there are "references" to dinosaurs in the Bible (Leviathan) but again the reason you don't see a detailed account of them is the same reason you don't see a detailed account of how people farmed land, etc in the Bible. Because that is NOT the PURPOSE.

What happened to the greek gods/bible comparison? I thought you would go into some textual criticism there.

Like I said when you show some genuine knowledge and searching to back your statements up and not some fanatical flamefest we can debate. Until then...it would be pointless.
